DIY Wood Stove Vent Pipe Through Wall Video. We recommend bracing vertical venting every 5 to 6 feet. Use sheet metal screws when connecting anything to the stove pipe.
Note that i have protected the flue pipe with fireproof webbing (sticky back). Never pass a stovepipe through the wall, ceiling, floor or a window. Even at today's higher prices, wood is usually a cheaper heat alternative than fuel oil or gas.
This venting can be used on gas, oil & wood stoves and fireplaces.
Your hole will be a lot larger than ths (we had access to a hole in the outside wall in this case to connect our liner). Stove pipe is used for venting wood burning stoves and is only for use inside the home, or more specifically, inside the room where the stove is installed. Years ago most wood stoves were using an 8 flue but over the last several years the manufacturers have made smaller more efficient wood stoves and most stoves these days use a 6 flue. This boosts stove efficiency by exhausting hot flue gases easily and efficiently.
